Train your brain day

Do you know what your brain is capable of? You will not unless you keep training it and building it up. It’s not a muscle but it works like a muscle and actually controls all of your muscles. The more you use your brain the more “powerful” it will be. Thus train your brain day is a day set aside to keep everybody’s brain in tip top shape, especially your children’s.

It’s time to flex your brain. Today is Train Your Brain Day

Know your brain

Think of your brain as a complex computer that does everything you want it to do. It does things automatically without you even having to ask it to. But when you keep flexing your brain through mental activity, it can create new neurons. Neurons are cells that can process and send out information.

Now your computer (your brain) can actually build itself up. While other brains might be going obsolete. So how are you going to ensure that?  Well, things happen every single day where you are faced with solving a problem or making a decision; this is something your brain is used to doing.

Today we are encouraging everyone to expand and exercise their brain. Use more of its potential capacity through mental exercise.  There are many different ways to train your mind and improve your cognitive skills. Such as reading, word puzzles, number games, brain teasers, trivia games, riddles and word games, and in children aged 6 – 18 years, physical activity is recommended, which according to researchers can boost brain function, cognition and scholastic performance.

How to celebrate Train Your Brain Day with your friends and family

There are the things we mentioned above but it would be more fun to play it as a game of whose brain is the best.

You can gather a group of your friends and family, and set up some brain training exercises which you’ll each go through. You could have a set amount of time for each problem or puzzle they have to solve and. Then at the end, you see who did each thing the best and average everything up.

For example you could have a crossword puzzle, a jig saw puzzle, some math problems, a brain teaser and so on (see list of games here). Players only have one or two minutes to get as much done as they possibly can, then they have to move onto the next puzzle. It could be very challenging and you can even make the competition more fun with prizes. The prize could be that the winner gets to choose a book that the rest of the players have read to help build up their mental capacity.

Brainy Nation is here to support you during the rest of the year to improve your cognitive skills and keep your brain healthy and in excellent shape.

Have a great day and don’t think too hard!
